Game Timing Chart

| * In Montgomery County JV Games, the clock will start on the Referee's Ready-for-Play signal following free kicks or a change of possession except if there is a charged timeout. Coaches may address questions regarding this procedure to the commissioner. | |
Overtime

| Maryland Public Schools - SMAC Subvarsity and Howard County JV | Yes - Each team gets one possession starting at the 10-Yard Line (after 2 total possessions, the game ends in a tie) |
| IAC - Varsity | Yes - Each team gets two possessions starting at the 20-Yard Line (after 4 total possessions, the game ends in a tie) |
| IAC - Subvarsity | No - Game ends in a Tie |
| WCAC - Varsity | Yes - Federation Procedure from the 25-Yard Line until a winner is determined |
| WCAC - Subvarsity | No - Game ends in a Tie |
| Independents (Model, Maret, Avalon, Riverdale Baptist, etc.) | Ask both head coaches before the game. They must agree on an overtime procedure to use. If the coaches do not agree, no overtime will be played. |
35-point Rule
Once there is a 35-point differential in score, the clock will run. The clock will only stop for injury and charged time outs. If, at any point, the score differential is reduced below 35 points, regular timing procedures are resumed. This procedure can begin at any point during the game. Coaches may address questions regarding this procedure to the commissioner.
Chains
Chains will be operated on the home team's side of the field, EXCEPT for games where we provide an official chain crew, in which case the chains will operate opposite the press box.
